2019 Recap Restaurants

my year in review – my top 10 dishes of 2019

The week between Christmas and New Years Day is always that time when most people reflect on the past year and think about their resolutions for the new year. I’m one of those people, and this past week I’ve done a lot of thinking and reminiscing of my 2019.

For me 2019 was one of the toughest years of my life. It’s easy to fall into the trap of self-pity and feel all the bad overshadowing the good, but I choose to focus on the good instead of the bad and that’s the mindset I’m going into 2020 with.

For all the bad this year, I have had equal amounts of happiness and joy. I’ve been given the opportunity to further explore my passions in food and photography and I’ve learned so many things and met so many wonderful people. I could go on and on and be incredibly sappy, but I’m going to recap my year the best way I know how – with food.

Here are the top 10 dishes that I’ve had the pleasure of eating this year (in no particular order):

Lobster Pasta at Hydra Estiatorio

Korean Style Macarons at Cafe Take Urban

Omakase Plate at Lobby Lounge Raw Bar at Fairmont Pacific Rim

Coconut Rice Cakes at Do Chay Saigon Vegetarian

Breakfast Burger at L’Abattoir

Crispy Chicken Wings at Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar

Deep Fried Tofu Bao at 3 Quarters Full Cafe

Sablefish at Ancora Waterfront Dining and Patio

Biscuit Cinnamon Bun at Chewie’s Biscuit Co

Wood-Grilled New Bedford Scallops at Elisa Steakhouse

And in a non food related note – here’s a visual recap of my favourite events and moments of 2019. Huge shout out to Trudy, Benton and Jenn for being there for me throughout this turbulent year.

Life is good, it isn’t perfect. I’m not perfect and I’m still trying every day to be at peace and to be happy. But in this moment – I am very happy and blessed. Cheers to 2020! 🥂
