I wanted to check out Bambudda before they are closed for good on February 19. Getting to the actual restaurant was a bit of an adventure, because the building it’s located in already has a bunch of construction surrounding it so it’s really hidden.

R and I sat at the bar so that we can indulge in their Happy Hour specials (From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.)

The bar is beyond gorgeous.

What we drank: Hemingway Daiquiri – rum, lime, grapefruit, maraschino liqueur (L) Bees Knees – gin, honey syrup and lemon (R) ($7)

The Bees Knees is a lethal drink. It goes down super easy, tastes just like honey water (but really isn’t!). I love this drink and I can probably have a solid dozen and not realize how drunk I’m getting!

What we ate: House made bbq pork with steamed buns, pickled vegetables ($13)

This was the best dish we had tonight. The pork was moist and paired well with the soft buns. The pickled vegetables were a nice touch.

What we ate: Hot and Sour noodles with deep fried tofu and preserved cabbage ($10) and XO prawns with caramelized onions, celery, peppers ($12)

The noodles were not good. There was almost no flavour and noodles themselves tasted like cheap vermicelli (the kind you can get 6 to a pack for a $1). The prawns were decent, but they were more like shrimp.

The food was very mediocre. The Hot and Sour noodles was awful. The drinks however were out of this world. I’ll definitely be back to try and make a solid dent in their cocktail drink menu because it was so delicious!
