After a particularly long day at work, S and I decided to go out for a late dinner. I was really feeling like sushi, and unfortunately not a lot of Japanese restaurants are open past 10 pm, which is why we ended up at Tairyou.

What I ate: Maguro sanshoku don – Tuna, toro and negitoro on sushi rice ($13.80)

This really hit the spot. The fish was reasonably fresh and the rice wasn’t too vinegary. The knife cuts on the toro were a bit suspect, but it didn’t detract from the overall dish.

We also ordered a Nabeyaki udon, and various nigiri, but we were both too hungry and we dug into those dishes right away. No complaints on the food, although this may be slightly biased because we were both starving.

I probably would come by again if I was in the area and it was later in the evening. The restaurant doesn’t have the cleanest feel to it, but it’s nothing too bad.
