I usually go to The Keg in Burnaby or on Alberni, but for convenience, Y and I went to The Keg on Dunsmuir because it’s just a stone throw’s from his office.
What we ate: Tuna tacos – Ahi tuna, warm tortillas, cabbage slaw, cilantro, jalapeño maple aioli ($14)
This is the first time I’ve seen this on the menu (usually I’m too distracted by all the meat), but I love ahi tuna, so I wanted to try this out. I think this is supposed to be a main, but we shared it as an appetizer. The taco’s were not bad, but I think they used hoisin sauce in the taco and that pretty much overwhelmed the flavour of everything else.
What we ate: Grilled Top Sirloin (8 oz) with a twice baked potato ($26)
We both ordered the same thing except I had a regular baked potato. This was pretty standard, nothing special, but it’s a good steak.
What we ate: Billy Miner Pie ($6)
Because we were celebrating a birthday, we got a Billy Miner Pie on the house and it was delicious (as usual)!
The Keg is a standard go to for me if I’m craving a big piece of steak. My favourite location is the one on Still Creek (in Burnaby), but if I’m Downtown, I prefer the Alberni location.
