I never used to be much of a morning person, but recently I’ve been obsessed with brunch!
I decided to check out the Bayside Lounge at English Bay because I saw a delicious picture of their chicken and waffles on Instagram!
I came here on a Saturday morning with a few friends and because we came right at opening the restaurant was empty. A couple more tables came in as we were eating, but overall it wasn’t very busy at all. There was only one server (the bartender), but he was extremely attentive and friendly.
What we ate: Chicken and Waffles – crispy fried chicken and fluffy Belgium waffles topped with a honey drizzle & served with Canadian maple syrup ($12.50)
This was a pretty good rendition of chicken and waffles! The chicken was crispy and the waffles had a slight sweetness to them.
.
Crabcake Benny – Bell River PEI crab, arugula, salsa & dill yogurt ($14.00)
In full disclosure, I’m not a huge fan of hollandaise, so when I found out I could sub it with dill yogurt I was ecstatic. The benny itself was a bit skimpy on the toppings, but the creaminess of the egg and yogurt worked really well with the crab. I would definitely get this again.
Overall I enjoyed my experience here. The prices here are very wallet friendly (especially for the area!), and the views can’t be beat!
Would I come back? Yes, if I was in the area. However I wouldn’t specifically drive out here to eat brunch.
Wow the chicken and waffles is cheap!
