Nana’s Green Tea has been on my to-go list of places to eat in Japan for as long as I can remember, but I have never had the chance to go. I was extremely happy when I found out that they were opening their first North American branch in Vancouver!

I’m not one for queues, but I wanted to try this place so badly! Thankfully the queue was only 15 minutes long for take out on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

What we got: Matcha Shiratama Frappe ($6.90) and Matcha Shiratama Parfait ($9.80)

loved both of them! The matcha taste was strong but not overwhelming.

The parfait was made up of so many delicious layers. On the bottom there was a generous portion of matcha jello, layered with soft cream, matcha syrup, cornflakes, mochi balls, matcha ice cream, a large scoop of red bean paste and all topped with fresh whipped cream drizzled with matcha syrup.

The parfait was a perfect balance of textures. There was crunch from the cornflakes, chew from the mochi and the creaminess from the soft cream and matcha ice cream.

For the price I thought this was a really great deal. There was no shortage of ingredients, so every spoonful was overflowing.

We went on the weekend of their soft opening and I thought that the lineups were managed really well. The service was very quick and efficient and the line ups were orderly. I didn’t wait for a seat in the cafe, but it seemed like people were not lingering too long after finishing their desserts.

Would I come back? ABSOLUTELY. I cannot wait to come back to try their Hojicha offerings!
