The Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival is back for it’s 9th year and it features Vancouver’s best chocolatiers, pastry shops, bakeries, cafes, gelato and ice cream makers showcasing their hot chocolate creations. Presented by Cityfood Magazine, the festival will run from January 19 – February 14.
Trafiq is one of the participants and I’ve always been a big fan of their cakes, so I decided to check out their hot chocolate creation with T on a sunny day.
Trafiq is offering rotating flavours for the duration of the festival, so please check the list before heading over in case the one you want is no longer offered!
I’m a self declared matcha addict, so I knew I had to get their matcha offering. The hot chocolate was very delicious. There was a strong matcha flavour and the drink wasn’t too sweet.
The tuille on top was actually my favourite part and it tasted good on its on as well as broken into the drink.
I would personally pass on the Matcha Opera Cake because it was very dry and not very tasty. I noticed that while the full sized cakes at Trafiq are amazingly delicious, their mini treats leave a lot to be desired.
I really enjoyed my hot chocolate and I hope that they will consider keeping this on the permanent menu. If you haven’t tried it yet, this drink will be available February 1 – 7. Go early because they do sell out!
