Riz Sushi Bar & Catering is mainly a catering business, but they have since expanded their offerings at their brick and mortar location to include to-go sushi combos, poké, udon, teriyaki and various appetizers.

They recently launched several new dishes to add to their already expansive menu.

Chicken Karaage – 5 pieces ($6.00)

This was a standard chicken karaage. The batter wasn’t too heavy and the pieces of chicken were quite large.

Prawn Tempura Udon ($8.00)

Of all the dishes we tried, this was the weakest dish. The egg was overcooked, and the dish overall was missing something. It was a very lacklustre dish.

Kimchi and Beef Yakisoba ($10.50)

The egg on this dish was perfectly executed. The creaminess of the egg yolk worked well with the kimchi. The noodles were a bit more done that I would prefer personally, but the overall execution of the dish was good.

Shiso Skirt Steak Salad ($13.00)

This dish was the unanimous favourite of the day. The steak was prepared a perfect medium rare and all the components of the dish worked well together. The pickled mushroom was a nice bright addition to the dish.

Riz Sushi Bar & Catering is a no-frills poke place offering more than just poke. You pay at the counter and everything is self service. The portion sizes are generous and the flavours of the dishes are on point. I will definitely be back.
