Paradies Lagardère has brought a new full-service illycaffè to the international departure terminal at Vancouver International Airport.
illycaffè is a third-generation family-owned coffee company from Trieste, Italy. They are a global leader in sustainable high-quality coffee. Their shops all offer an immersive illy experience that feature the brand’s iconic imagery and other visual elements. Coffee at illycaffè is purchased directly from farmers, and prepared by expertly-trained baristas.
illycaffè is the first of many new cafes set to open as part of YVR’s newly enhanced food and beverage and retail program that will introduced over the course of two years.
I attended their grand opening today at Vancouver International Airport and had the opportunity to hear from Scott Norris, Barry Sheldon and Gerry Savaria as they explained the concept behind illycaffè as well as the partnership between Paradies Lagardère and YVR.
There was a beautiful ice sculpture celebrating the grand opening. The logo was engraved within the cup!
The drinks were smooth and not too sweet even with the addition of caramel and chocolate. There was a punchy espresso flavour in both drinks and was reminiscent of an elevated Blenz MochaChillo.
In addition to their coffee program, illycaffè also offers tea options, pastries (croissants, pain au chocolat etc.), sandwiches, prepared salads and alcohol. It is a great new option for travellers post-security to grab a quick bite to eat before boarding their flight. As a frequent flier myself, I look forward to stopping by often to get my caffeine fix!
