Korean fried chicken is the best kind of fried chicken. The trademark of excellent Korean fried chicken is the ultra crispy exterior encasing super juicy and flavourful chicken. There is no shortage of restaurants in Vancouver serving up this delicious dish. Generally they are all good renditions, however I believe I have found my favourite spot. Rib and Chicken has several locations in the Lower Mainland and their Korean fried chicken is out of this world. They really have the best Korean fried chicken!
There menu focuses on their namesake – chicken and ribs. They have all the most popular flavour varieties, but my go to will always be their original and sweet and spicy flavour. The best option is getting the Half and Half so you can try two flavours!
Half and Half Fried Chicken – Original and Sweet and Spicy
The Half and Half Chicken ($20.99) is the best dish to order here. The original flavour and sweet and spicy are must orders. The chicken is fried perfectly and isn’t oily at all. The skin is so unbelievably crisp even though it is coated in sauce. The regular size can feed 3 people very comfortably, but if you’re extra hungry the family size is only $10 more.
To accompany the chicken there is a selection of sauces, but the must get is honey mustard. It’s got a slight kick from the mustard and goes perfectly with the original chicken.
Seafood Soft Tofu Soup – Comforting Filler
To help wash down all the delicious chicken, we ordered a Seafood Soft Tofu Soup ($11.99). There was a generous amount of soft tofu, baby mussels and squid. It was a comforting bowl of soup and a great filler item.
Rib and Chicken is open now for socially distant dining. I felt safe while I was dining there, however if you’re not comfortable with eating out they are also available for take out (10% off for pick up) and on delivery apps.
