Boba Run is a stunning new bubble tea shop in Gastown. They believe in creating drinks that are free of powders and artificial flavourings. The majority of their drinks contain fresh organic milk or dairy alternatives (like oat milk!). Their matcha drinks use Whisk Premium Matcha which sources high quality matcha. This shop has been on my to-go list since their launch and I was happy to have the chance to swing by over the weekend.
Please note that they are take away only at this time! They have a very handy online ordering system to preorder before you arrive. The best part every item has a picture so you can see what you are getting! You can also adjust sweetness and ice levels, and choose your milk of choice.
The Strawberry Matcha Latte ($6.50 + $1.00 for oat milk) is made with hand whisked organic matcha layered over fresh milk and house-made strawberry puree. I had oat milk with mine and this drink was heavenly. The matcha was very strong but went well with the sweet strawberry puree. The drink was a good combination of flavours and the layers were so beautiful to look at.
The Honeycomb Dalgona Latte ($5.70) has Korean honeycomb toffee crumbs served over milk. The toffee melts and oozes into the drink creating a rich “caramelly” flavour! This was another beautiful drink. It was a tad sweet for me but it’s a good indulgence if you want to treat yourself. The caramel had a great deep flavour and I think if I order this again I would go with oat milk.
Overall I was very impressed with the drinks at Boba Run. While there are a number of bubble tea shops in the core Downtown area, there are only a couple in the Gastown area. Boba Run is by far the best of the bunch. Their drinks are quality, and the pricing cannot be beat. With drinks ranging from $8-10 these days, these clock in at under $7! These are worth the drive down – I can’t wait to go back.
