Nemesis Coffee – All Day Brunch and Beautiful Pastries

Nemesis Coffee is a spot that needs no introduction. From their start in Gastown, they have since expanded to two additional locations – Nemesis Coffee GNW and Nemesis Coffee Polygon. All three locations have their own charm, but their location on Great Northern Way is truly stunning. The big red brick exterior cannot be missed. The elevated natural wood ceilings on the interior make the cafe so light and airy. I came by on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon to enjoy some coffee, some brunch and a glorious spread of pastries. They will always be one of my go to spots for some of the best croissants and pastries in the city.

Nemesis Coffee GNW – All Day Brunch and Coffee

Nemesis Coffee GNW has a Dope brunch available every day until 3 pm. There are so many options to choose from including muesli, eggs benny, and even fried chicken sandos! On this visit we went with:

  • Bodega Sando ($11.25)
  • Salmon Danish ($6.75)

The Bodega Sando features a milk bun, avocado or bacon, fried egg, swiss cheese, and thousand island aioli. We went the avocado! This was so good! It tastes like a breakfast Big Mac, and I didn’t miss the meat in this. The egg was nice and runny and went so well with the avocado and soft milk bun.

Nemesis Coffee GNW - All Day Brunch and Coffee Salmon Danish features smoked salmon mousse, chives, and furikake

The Salmon Danish features smoked salmon mousse, chives, and furikake. There is an option to add a poached egg for $2.50. We didn’t because we already had the egg from the Bodego Sando. This danish was divine. The pastry was so buttery and flakey and the mousse was so light with just the perfect amount of salmon flavour. I could eat this danish over and over again.

Nemesis Coffee GNW - All Day Brunch and Coffee Nitro Cold Brew

For our drinks we went with Nitro Cold Brew ($5.00) and Iced Latte ($5.50). The Nitro Cold Brew has a really nutty taste and the after taste reminds me a bit of Chinese red bean soup – I am a fan!

Nemesis Coffee GNW – Croissants and Cruffins

The pastries and croissants are always a work of art at Nemesis Coffee. The Dope Bakehouse has an eye-catching blue colour box with the cutest smiley face. The best part is you can now pre-order Dope Bakehouse pastries so you can guarantee they will always be available when you arrive. Thankfully even though we went on a busy Sunday, there was still lots of selection in the pastry case. As a result we got quite a few:

  • Miso Brownie Chocolate Croissant ($7.25)
  • Matcha Raspberry Cruffin ($6.25)
  • Lemon Meringue Croissant ($7.25)

All the croissants are absolutely stuffed with filling with the most flakey exteriors. The Miso Brownie Chocolate Croissant has a rich chocolate filling and a miso caramel. The miso adds a nice touch of salt to an otherwise very sweet croissant.

Nemesis Coffee Lemon Meringue Croissant with fluffy torched meringue golden brown pastry and lemon curd

The Lemon Meringue Croissant tastes like the best lemon bar you ever had. The lemon is tart and tangy and I am always a sucker for meringue. This is my favourite croissant from Nemesis Coffee.

The Matcha Raspberry Cruffin has a rich matcha cream and a very lovely sugary and flakey pastry. The raspberry is quite tart and cuts through the sweetness.

Worth a Try?

Absolutely! Nemesis Coffee continues to be one of my favourite cafes in Vancouver. Their beautiful spaces, carefully prepared coffee and exquisite croissants and pastries never fail to amaze me.
