Early Bird Pudding – Must Try Japanese Baked Pudding in Vancouver

Early Bird Pudding is a local small business that is providing Vancouver with delectable Japanese baked pudding desserts. Their pudding is made without artificial flavors and use only ingredients direct from Japan and/or local to BC. The puddings come in a distinct signature round pudding cup which is absolutely adorable!

Japanese Baked Pudding is a flan-like cold custard in Japan. It consists of a flan with caramel sauce. It is silky, creamy and smooth and is absolutely delicious! It’s relatively easy to make, however the difficulty lies in getting that smooth custard without overcooking the pudding.

They have so many classic and unique flavours to choose from including:

  • Classic Custard
  • Yuzu Citrus
  • Matcha Tea
  • Genmaicha Tea
  • Hojicha Tea
  • Earl Grey
  • Kabocha
  • Amazake
  • Sakura
  • Kurogoma

While all the flavours were delicious, my stand outs were: Classic Custard, Yuzu Citrus, Hojicha Tea, Amazake, Kabocha and Kurogoma. These are all such classic Japanese flavours, you really cannot go wrong!

The puddings aren’t too sweet but definitely come through strong with their namesake flavours. You can taste the quality in each of the puddings. The Matcha one for example has a slight bitterness from the high quality matcha, but it pairs perfectly with the sweetness of the pudding.

All the puddings had a lovely smooth custard with a flavourful ‘sauce’. I love the attention to all the small details. The pudding decorations were just perfect.
