H2 Kitchen + Bar – Best Value $35 Dine Out Vancouver Menu

H2 Kitchen + Bar inside the The Westin Bayshore is one of my favourite spots for Southern BBQ in Vancouver. I’m so glad that they are participating in this year’s Dine Out Vancouver Festival with a really great $35 menu. I went by last weekend with my family to try the Dine Out menu and they were really impressed! Portion size, taste and service was all spot on and they are already asking me when we can go back next. Check out my full review of the H2 Kitchen + Bar $35 Dine Out Vancouver menu below.

H2 Kitchen + Bar – $35 Dine Out Vancouver Menu

For Dine Out Vancouver the H2 Kitchen + Bar has a 2 appetizers, 3 mains and 1 dessert option to choose from. My parents both ordered off this menu, so we got to sample all the options (sans the vegetarian offering).

The appetizer choices are:

  • Chicken and Corn Chowder – puff pastry
  • Harvest Salad – maple-roasted butternut squash, kale, radicchio, caramelized onion dried cranberry, toasted seeds, goat cheese, balsamic vinaigrette

The Chicken and Corn Chowder was nice and thick with plenty of potatoes, chicken and corn. The puff pastry added a nice textural contrast to the heavier soup. My dad really liked this starter!

The Harvest Salad is a fairly straightforward salad that is made better with the delectable addition of maple roasted butternut squash. The squash pieces were so caramelized and sweet!

For the mains there are three options:

  • Texas Smoked Beef Brisket – crispy waffle fries, coleslaw, H2 BBQ sauce
  • Honey & Herb Glazed 1/4 Rotisserie Chicken – creamy red-skinned mashed potato, farmers’ market vegetables with chicken gravy
  • Smoked Oyster Mushrooms – soft polenta, caramelized onion, fire-roasted gem tomato and charred kale

My dad went with the Texas Smoked Beef Brisket and he had no complaints. I snuck a bite, and the brisket was really tender and melt in your mouth with a great smoke flavour. And, you can never go wrong with crispy waffle fries!

My mom’s Honey & Herb Glazed 1/4 Rotisserie Chicken was a table favourite. The chicken was moist and tender and the mashed potatoes were divine. I’m not a mash fan, but these were some spectacular spuds!

For dessert there is only one option – Banana Pudding with butter cake, caramel and pecan praline. My banana dislike is well documented, but my family really liked the pudding!

H2 Kitchen + Bar – Shareplates and Mains

My sister and I decided to order off the regular menu and we got a few things to share:

  • H2 Share Platter ($32.00)
  • Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich ($19.00)
  • St. Louis Side Ribs ($33.00) with Cornbread and Mac & Cheese sides

The H2 Share Platter is the perfect starter to share because it’s a combination platter of all of H2’s best appetizers. This platter features wings, jalapeño poppers, popcorn shrimp, a pickle jar, yam & waffle fries. It is served with chipotle aioli, creole remoulade & buttermilk ranch dip. This was so yummy, and a table favourite. The dips were so flavourful and went so well with all the different items.

The Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich features Homer’s Hot sauce, butter lettuce, brioche bun, buttermilk aioli, bread & butter pickles. The chicken was nice and moist (and not that spicy), and the brioche bun was so soft and fluffy. This was a solid chicken sandwich! The sandwich is served with your choice of H2 waffle fries, summer greens or Caesar salad. My sister went with the Caesar salad and she was very happy with her choice.

I ordered “From the Pit” which is your choice of Bayshore smokehouse meats with two sides. I went with the St. Louis Side Ribs, and that was the only disappointment of the night. The ribs were dry and the bottoms were burnt and charred. The flavour was good though, and once I dipped the ribs in their Honey Garlic BBQ sauce it was much more palatable. The sides I went with were the cornbread and mac & cheese. Both were delicious!

H2 Kitchen + Bar – Desserts

For a sweet finish we got two desserts off the regular menu:

  • Sticky Toffee Cake ($14.00)
  • Campfire Brownie ($14.00)

The Sticky Toffee Cake was my favourite. It features toffee caramel and vanilla ice cream. The cake was so moist and flavourful and the caramel wasn’t too sweet. This was a fantastic dessert and I highly recommend you get this the next time you’re here.

The Campfire Brownie comes to the table with a show. It features toasted marshmallow pastry cream, milk chocolate ganache, graham crumble and wood smoke. The cloche is removed tableside and it really feels like you’re at a campfire with the woodsy smoke. The brownie was good, but the smoke flavour was a bit overwhelming. I would pass on this dessert next time, but it was a very pretty dessert.
