One of my favourite hidden lounges in Vancouver is Bagheera. This new speakeasy in Vancouver’s Chinatown pays homage to the adventurous spirit of the Indian subcontinent as the 19th century gave way to the 20th. They are offering a brand new cocktail menu with 50% off all lounge bites. This menu is available from 5 pm to 7 pm from Sunday to Thursday. As part of this new Happy Hour, guests can enjoy 50% off the entire kitchen menu including Chef Vo’s Pakoras (veggie , pickled Gobi), Chakna Mix – Shallots, Jalapenos, sun dried tomatoes, crispy corn, fried daal, cilantro, Chana Masala – Coconut, tomato masala chickpeas, fried lentils, bread sticks, and Paneer Saag – Paneer. How To Access Bagheera
Bagheera is located behind Happy Valley Turf Club (518 Main St.). They are open 6 days a week, Tuesday to Sunday, with service beginning at 5pm. Bagheera does not take reservations and patrons are welcomed on a first come, first-seated basis. When you enter, you will be asked to place a bet. The correct answer is to ‘Place your bet on “King Louie”’. A door will then open for you to enter and you will enter a beautiful and sophisticated lounge space. There is a beautiful long bar as well as booth seating to choose from. I personally prefer the booths and chairs as I find it more comfortable, but the bar is great if you like interacting with the bartenders.
Bagheera Drinks and Food
I have been to Bagheera numerous times and I always leave happily fed and appropriately tipsy. The food here is top notch and Chef Phong Vo is an absolute master in the kitchen. Everything I’ve tried here food wise has always been incredibly tasty but my must order dish is the Prawn Pakoras. Drinks wise they have an incredible selection of spirits as well as well crafted cocktails like Tamarind Daquiri, Makrut Gimlet, and a Chai Old Fashioned for just $8 at Happy Hour!
Worth a Try?
Yes! This is my favourite speakeasy in Vancouver and one of the best spots to get a great cocktail. The service, ambiance, food and drinks are all top notch and I can’t recommend Bagheera enough. Their Happy Hour deals are an absolute steal and I highly recommend you give them a try! After happy hour I suggest checking out neighbouring restaurants like the Michelin recommended Fiorino nearby.
