I am always on the hunt for a good happy hour spot in Downtown Vancouver. For me, a good happy hour needs to have good drinks and food at a good price. Nightingale is one of my go to restaurants and they have a great happy hour that fits all the criteria above. Nightingale has a daily happy hour from 3-5 pm every day and it features some of their best dishes from their main menu. Bonus they have pretty great drink deals with everything coming in under $10 and select bottles of wine for $50. Check out my review of the happy hour at Nightingale below.
Happy Hour at Nightingale – Food and Drink Highlights
For our drinks we were feeling classic so we went with their $6 well highballs. However, the menu has great cocktail choices for $9.50 like Bramble (yaletown distilling gin, lemon, blackberry), El Diablo (espolon tequila, chambord, lime, ginger beer) and Hemingway Daquiri (flor de cana 4, maraschino liqueur, grapefruit, lime).
For food we went with:
- Beet – orange, dill, whipped feta, everything crumble ($14.00)
- Margherita pizza – mozzarella, basil, olive oil ($17.00)
- Rigatoni all’arrabbiata – whipped ricotta, basil ($23.00)
- Buttermilk fried chicken – spiced maple syrup, sumac, pickles ($20.00)
The Beets were glorious with its deep red colours and the oranges made such a great contrasting colour. The whipped feta was creamy and pairs perfectly with the beets. The everything crumble adds just the right amount saltiness and texture. The dill was a lovely touch. I don’t normally love beets, but I love these beets!
The pizza at Nightingale is great, and one of my favourites in the city. We went classic with a Margherita pizza and it was perfect. The mozzarella was nice and cheesy and the crust had the perfect amount of chew. The other two options for Happy Hour are Guanciale (pineapple, habanero, chives) and Pepperoni (red onion, mozzarella, tomato) for $19.00.
If I had to pick one pasta shape as my favourite it would be rigatoni. The Rigatoni all’arrabbiata is another personal favourite. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the tomato sauce had just the right amount of spice. The whipped ricotta adds a really nice creamy element to the dish making it almost like a rose sauce.
And no visit to Nightingale is ever complete without their Buttermilk Fried Chicken! These crispy delightful pieces of chicken are tossed with spiced maple syrup for just a touch of sweetness. This is a must order dish every time I’m here.
Worth a Try?
Yes! I adore Nightingale and it’s always a recommendation of mine for out of town visitors to Vancouver as well as locals. The food is always well done here and the drinks are impeccable. Happy Hour is a great chance to try out this restaurant at a slightly lower price point. Overall, a solid Happy Hour spot that definitely makes the cut for me.
