Glowbal Big Cut Thursday – Must Try Steak Deal in Vancouver

We all know how Instagram worthy Glowbal Restaurant at Telus Garden in Downtown Vancouver is. With it’s gorgeous floral patio with bird cages and their stunning interior luxurious restaurant space. While I’m usually here for a good Happy Hour, I couldn’t resist the chance to try their new ‘Big Cut Thursday’. Every Thursday, Glowbal is serving their biggest cuts for the biggest deal at dinner. You can choose from a 34oz Grilled Porterhouse Steak & Jumbo Garlic Prawns or a 54oz Canadian Angus Beef Tomahawk Steak. Check out my full review of the Glowbal Big Cut Thursday special below!

Big Cut Thursday

There are two options to choose from for Big Cut Thursday:

  • 34oz Grilled Porterhouse Steak & Jumbo Garlic Prawns with chimmichurri ($119)
  • 54oz Canadian Angus Beef Tomahawk Steak with Mission Hill red wine jus ($139)

The steak comes with pommes puree, seasonal vegetables and weekly accompaniments.

In addition you can upgrade the steak with:

  • Fresh Black Truffle ($16)
  • Seared Quebec Foie Gras ($24)
  • Three Jumbo Scallops ($27)

For our dinner we went with the 54oz Canadian Angus Beef Tomahawk Steak. This enormous piece of meat is brought table side and torched to finish right in front of you! We couldn’t resist ordering the Pómmes Aligot ($27) which features gruyère and freshly shaved black truffle. It was so cheesy, creamy and decadent.

Glowbal Restaurant – Appetizers

To start we had:

  • Chilled Seafood Sando ($13)
  • British Columbia Albacore Tuna ($21)
  • 1/2 dozen oysters
Glowbal Restaurant in Downtown Vancouver Happy Hour Chilled seafood sando with Pacific crab & prawns salad in gougeres and black tobiko

The Chilled Seafood Sando is new on their happy hour menu and it features Pacific crab & prawns salad in gougeres and black tobiko. This was a really interesting dish because instead of using bread the sando is made with gougeres. It was an excellent choux pastry and it went well with the creamy salad. Would recommend trying this!

One of my favourite dishes of the night was definitely the British Columbia Albacore Tuna. This dish features soy cured loin, pickled radish on top of a edamame hummus. The tuna was light and refreshing and the pickled radish was the perfect pairing for this dish.

The oysters were well shucked and fresh, not a must order, but not bad if you’re a fan of oysters! They do have $2 oysters during Happy Hour with a minimum order of 6. Which is a pretty great price for oysters, even though it’s not buck a shuck.

Worth a Try?

Yes! For $139 the steak can definitely feed 2-3 people comfortably. And with all the additional sides it’s a pretty fantastic steak deal, especially for Downtown Vancouver! The ambiance is always top notch at Glowbal, and I will definitely be back to try their upcoming new menu later this Fall.
