The power of social media is real. Just a couple days before my trip to Whistler I spotted a gorgeous picture of sandwiches on Instagram. These sandwiches were from a small French cafe called The Buvette located on Vancouver Street in downtown Squamish. This small cafe has huge floor to ceiling windows with a great view of Stawamus Chief. This little cafe is a coffee shop, wine bar and lunch spot all rolled into one. The sandwiches were calling me, so I made it a priority to make a pit stop in Squamish before heading to Whistler. The menu is super simple at lunch. We stuck with two sandwiches:
- Meat Sando ($16)
- Veggie Sando ($14)
The Meat Sando features salami, proscuitto, fresh mozzarella, pickled red onion, roasted red pepper, arugula, vegan pesto and calabrian chili spread. This sandwich was stacked. There was so many ingredients between a perfectly crust baguette. This was so good and I highly recommend it for people who love a good Italian cold cut sandwich.
Surprisingly though, the crowd favourite was the Veggie Sando. This sandwich features marinated eggplant, roasted red pepper, fresh mozzarella, arugula, pickled red onion, vegan pesto and calabrian chili spread. The marinated eggplant was so flavourful and the fresh mozzarella was so creamy and pairs so well with all the char flavours of the vegetables.
Overall this is a great little spot to check out on your way to Whistler. I definitely will try to make it back to try their ever changing fresh sheet at dinner! The cafe has a really chill laid back vibe with a regular tables as well as some couches and a cute outdoor patio to enjoy their coffees and sandos.
