Torafuku’s New Brunch Menu – Bold Asian Flavours Meet Brunch Comforts

Torafuku, long known for its playful and punchy approach to modern Asian cuisine, has quietly rolled out a brand-new brunch menu and it’s anything but conventional. Tucked into the edge of Vancouver’s Chinatown, this neighborhood favourite is flipping traditional brunch on its head, infusing familiar comfort dishes with bold East Asian flair. From salted duck egg custards to sambal honey cornbread, Torafuku’s new offerings are as creative as they are crave-worthy. I popped in over the weekend to preview this new brunch menu and let’s just say: this isn’t your average eggs benny brunch. Check out my full review of Torafuku’s new brunch menu below!

Torafuku’s New Brunch Menu (Larger Plates) – Launching July 12

For our preview, we got to try all the dishes and I can say each and every one of them was delicious. There is definitely something for everyone! The menu is short and sweet but they do each dish so well. On my visit we got:

  • Steak & Egg ($28.00) – grilled bison bavette, crispy fries, fried egg, farmer’s greens, kimchi, xo sauce
  • Flat Bread ($14.00) – green onion pancake, avocado, baby gem tomatoes, fried eggs, pickled red onion, green goddess dressing, herb salad
  • Laksa ($22.00) – nanyang style laksa, tofu puff, egg noodle, bean sprouts, duck confit, lime

The Steak & Egg is the most substantial dish on the menu. It’s a super hearty plate of East meets West fusion. The bison steak is cooked to perfection,. It’s so tender and richly flavored. Served alongside a generous portion of house fries, a gooey fried egg, and a tangle of greens and kimchi, this dish strikes that rare balance between indulgence and umami-driven finesse. The housemade kimchi is a definite highlight.

The Flat Bread is a fluffy green onion pancake (more bready than flakey) that is paired with creamy avocado and a perfect sunny side up egg. The pickled onion and herbs add a nice bite and fresheness to the dish.

The Laksa is worth a trip to Torafuku. The broth is so rich and fragrant with a very prawn forward broth. It has major comfort food vibes but still very complex in flavour. The duck confit is a particularly indulgent touch—meltingly tender and perfectly balanced by the lime and sprout crunch.

Torafuku’s New Brunch Menu (Smaller Plates and Sweets) – Launching July 12

For some more appetizer size plates and a sweet treat we got:

  • Asian French Toast ($18.00) – milk bread, salted duck egg custard, condensed milk, chantily, fresh strawberry, icing
  • Prawns Sando ($18.00) – tiger prawns, gochujang aioli
  • Cornbread ($12.00) – Housemade cornbread, spicy sambal honey + add fried chicken ($5.00)

The Asian French Toast might sound super sweet, but the salted duck egg custard ensures it never veers into cloying territory. Thick slices of soft, golden milk bread are drenched in condensed milk and topped with just enough chantilly cream and strawberries to feel decadent. The real standout? The custard is rich, savoury, and addictive. Think Hong Kong-style French toast, reimagined with elegance.

The Prawns Sando was a stand out and a must order dish for me. The sando is perfectly fried and crisp on the outside without being too greasy, and the inside is stuffed to the brim with bouncy tiger prawn filling. The gochujang aioli is spicy without overpowering, and the whole thing holds together beautifully.

Torafuku's new brunch menu cornbread with taiwanese fried chicken

The Cornbread has a delightfully crisp crust with a fluffy interior. he sambal honey drizzled on top brings an unexpected but welcome zing, like Southern comfort food that took a detour through Southeast Asia. Pro tip: add the fried chicken. It’s Taiwanese fried chicken perfection – golden, juicy, and a little herbaceous.

Worth a Try?

Yes! Torafuku’s brunch doesn’t just borrow from Asian flavours, it builds on them with creativity and confidence. There’s heart in every dish, and while each plate is Instagram-worthy, they’re also deeply satisfying. Whether you’re a die-hard brunch lover or someone who usually skips it altogether, this menu is worth a detour. The new menu launches on July 12th, so get your reservations in!
