set your alarm because reservations open for augus set your alarm because reservations open for august tomorrow (july 6) at 12 pm!

this is no hidden secret, but @tetsusushibar_van’s lunch omakase is one I look forward to every year. it makes its annual summer appearance and features a $110 omakase with 3 kinds of appetizers, a noodle dish, 9 pieces of nigiri sushi, miso soup
and dessert.

the best spot for this experience is definitely at the sushi bar so make sure you book one of those coveted spots.

worthy of an upgrade: uni and negitoro hand roll (+$26) or a slice of musk melon 🍈 (+$25).

for a showstopping appetizer you need to stop by @ for a showstopping appetizer you need to stop by @cprimesteak for their osso e manzo!

this decadent appetizer features colossal bone marrow, filet tartare, hazelnuts, parmesan, egg yolk, tonnato sauce and charred sourdough. it’s so rich and flavourful and the bone marrow adds an extra layer of flavour.

other highlights include their fresh pasta. the uovo is a large ravioli with roasted garlic ricotta, wild mushrooms, hazelnuts and butter emulsion.

there are no shortage of sushi spots in vancouver. there are no shortage of sushi spots in vancouver. here are my top 8 that I always recommend to my friends and are in my own personal rotation.

#vancouverfood #yvreats #vancouverbc #japanesefood #sushi

📍 sashimiya (1348 hornby st, vancouver)

@sashimiyashop is one of vancouver’s not so hidden gems (anymore!) for sushi lovers. everything is made fresh daily, and the quality is honestly hard to beat for the price. grab a chirashi bowl or sashimi platter and head to the seawall for the ultimate picnic.

📍 minami (1118 mainland st, vancouver)

a vancouver classic that never goes out of style. from their signature aburi sushi to impeccable service, @minamiyaletown is one of those restaurants that’s always a great choice for celebrating or simply treating yourself.

📍 sushi hil (3330 main st, vancouver)

@sushihil_restaurant strikes that perfect balance between traditional and modern. every dish feels thoughtful, beautifully executed, and showcases just how incredible quality seafood can be. it’s easily one of my favourite sushi spots in the city.

📍 tetsu sushi bar (775 denman st, vancouver)

for a truly memorable omakase experience, @tetsusushibar_van is hard to beat. every piece is prepared with incredible precision and care, making it one of my favourite places in vancouver when i’m craving an intimate sushi dinner.

📍 hello nori (1165 robson st, vancouver)

hand rolls are meant to be eaten the moment they’re made, and @hellonori does them exceptionally well. warm rice, crisp nori, premium seafood, and a front-row seat to the action make every visit a fun experience.

📍 tozen sushi bar (967 w broadway, vancouver)

if i had to recommend one sushi spot that’s consistently impressed me, it’d be @tozensushibar. the seafood is incredibly fresh, the presentation is beautiful, and the tuna bomb is something i order every single visit.

📍 kingyo (871 denman st, vancouver)

a vancouver institution for good reason. whether you’re sharing a table full of izakaya plates or catching up over drinks, @kingyo_izakaya_van always delivers great food, fun energy, and an atmosphere that keeps me coming back.

📍 toyokan bowl (1898 w 1st ave #2f, vancouver)

whether you are a local vancouverite or visiting f whether you are a local vancouverite or visiting for the world cup, here are 10 of my favourite cafes you should check out! from the best matcha to coffee and donuts to croissants, these spots can’t be missed.

#vancouverbc #vancouvercafe #yvrfood #yvreats #matcha

📍 nizu cafe (800 W Pender St #110, Vancouver, BC V6C 1J8)

centrally located in the heart of downtown vancouver, they have a super solid line up of matcha (including my personal favourite yuzu matcha tonic) and a delectable selection of sandwiches, baked goods and other desserts.

📍 nemesis coffee (302 W Hastings St, Vancouver, BC V6B 1K6)

one of vancouver’s most iconic specialty coffee shops, @nemesis.coffee has built a reputation for serving exceptional coffee alongside one of the city’s strongest pastry and brunch programs. the space is bright, beautifully designed, and always buzzing with creatives, remote workers and coffee lovers alike at all their locations.

📍 élysées cafe (6161 Cambie St, Vancouver, BC V5Z 3B2)

a bright and airy bakery and cafe offering an impressive selection of pastries, cakes and baked goods made fresh daily. i was really impressed with their strong iced oat latte and their delicious flaky croissants. i was also very intrigued by their gorgeous freshly baked sourdough loaves (which i will definitely be back to try!) @elyseescambie is just steps away from the newly opened oakridge park and is a great spot to recover post shopping.

📍 mello (223 E Pender St, Vancouver, BC V6A 1T8)

located in the heart of chinatown, @mellovancouver is my go-to whenever i’m craving something sweet. they’re best known for their incredibly soft brioche donuts (easily some of the best in the city), but their coffee and matcha program is just as impressive. there’s no seating inside, so grab a drink and a donut to go and take a stroll through the neighbourhood — it’s one of my favourite ways to spend a slow afternoon.

📍 boketto dessert cafe (3471 W Sawmill Cres, Vancouver, BC V5S 0E3)

nestled in river district, this cozy dessert cafe is the perfect place to satisfy your matcha cravings. from beautifully crafted matcha drinks and soft serve to their signature mochi stuffed waffles an
must try kakigori spot in vancouver 🍧 @fufupanca must try kakigori spot in vancouver 🍧

@fufupancakecafe is featuring two limited edition kakigoris as part of @nomsmag ice cream festival returning june 19 to august 3. although they are known for their supremely fluffy and delicious pancakes, their shaved ice is perfect for a hot vancouver summer.

🫐 blueberry yuzu cheese kakigori ($16.50)
🥭 mango matcha coconut kakigori ($16.50)

i loved both but if i had to pick i would go for the mango matcha coconut.
