I always go through phases where I will be obsessed with a certain food or dish. Earlier this year it was Eggs Benedict, and then soft serve. My latest food obsession is – Tacos!
Where better than La Taqueria to satisfy my cravings? They have six locations (five in Vancouver and one in Victoria). La Taqueria has an extensive offering of tacos, burritos as well as nachos!
La Taqueria is mostly a self service restaurant. You place your order at the front and a waiter will bring you your water, but water and condiments are all self serve.
What I ate: De Lengua – braised beef tongue served in a soft corn tortilla ($3.00 each)
On this visit I tried the beef tongue tacos. They were reasonably priced at $3.00 each. I wasn’t super hungry today so this was plenty enough for me, but I would recommend ordering at least four if you want a more filling lunch.
I jazzed up my tacos with some chipotle hot sauce and some pickled onions and vegetables.
The beef tongue was well flavoured and very tender. The pickled onions helped offset the richness of the tongue, and every bite just exploded with flavour.
Would I come back? Absolutely! I really enjoyed my tacos and the pickled vegetables were so delicious!
