TWG Tea has created a special Mother’s Day set menu for Mother’s Day and it will be available May 10th – 17th.
I took this opportunity to treat my mum to a nice dinner at TWG Tea.
The tea was very fragrant with strong floral undertones from the hibiscus. I chose to have this iced, but my mum had it hot and the tea flavour was a lot stronger in her cup.
The dish was platted different from what I saw on Instagram, so I was slightly disappointed. In other people’s photos there was a whole lobster tail on top of their pasta, but ours only had chunks of lobster.
The lobster was meaty and generous in this dish. The pasta unfortunately was a little too al dente for my liking. The garlic flower tempura was fried perfectly – not too oily with a crisp exterior tempura batter. This was our favourite part of the dish.
The dessert was visually stunning but the taste was lacking. The best part of the dessert was the rhubarb sorbet (but it tasted more like coconut).
Overall my meal was pleasant and perfectly serviceable but I had high expectations coming here and in this instance TWG Tea did not deliver. I would still come back here in the future because I see the potential in their dishes, but today the dishes were lacking the finesse that I had expected.
