The School of Magic Afternoon ($65.00 per person) – features a selection of savoury and sweet selections with scones (Philosopher’s Scone – red velvet, Jelly Bean and Matcha)

The School of Magic Afternoon Tea features the following:

Savoury Selections
Pretzel & Cheese Broomstick – havarti cheese, chive
British Sausage Roll
Smoked Chicken Tea Sandwich
Steak and Guinness Pie
Mrs. Sprout’s Pasty – British style crispy pocket with seasonal vegetables
Ron’s Chicken Leg – lemon honey garlic spice

The stand outs for me were definitely the pastry options. The British sausage roll, with it’s flaky pastry and savoury sausage that was still juicy was an absolute treat. The Steak and Guinness pie also featured the same flaky pastry as the sausage roll and the filling was generous with ample beef flavour. Mrs. Sprout’s Pasty, an adorably named vegetarian offering had an aromatic curry flavour that had me wishing the pasty was a full size offering.

Sweet Desserts

Butter Bubble Beer – boba pearls, non alcoholic butter scotch
Deathly Hallows – Valrhona dark chocolate ganache cake
Harry’s Favourite Treacle Tart – vanilla Chantilly with chocolate garnish
Cauldron Mousse – Ube mousse with mascarpone whipped cream
Muggles Book of Magic – Baumkuchen cake
Golden Snitch Chocolate Truffle – salted caramel
Hogwarts Acceptance Letter Sugar Cookie
Magic Wand
– chocolate covered cookie stick

The attention to detail in these sweets was exquisite. The Book of Magic crafted from a Baumkuchen cake resembled a real book with all the layers of the cake acting as pages. My standouts in terms of taste was the Cauldron Mousse, with its delicious Ube mousse and intricate details from the cake “foam” to the little bone sprinkles. The Golden Snitch was also another favourite – the dark chocolate exterior gave way to a lovely salted caramel centre.

The School of Magic Afternoon Tea was a smashing success last year, and this year they have completely re-imagined it with a whole new line up of sweets. The savoury selections are quite hefty in portion size so this would make for a filling meal. The sweets as always are lovely with excellent detail work. If you’re a fan of Harry Potter, you won’t want to miss out on this Afternoon Tea!
