Wildebeest is one of my favourite restaurants for dinner and even before the Dine Out Vancouver menus are released, I had already hedged my bets and made a reservation for their $45 Dine Out Vancouver dinner menu.
Reservations are recommended as they are incredibly popular during the Dine Out period. Please note that their full dinner menu is not available during Dine Out.
This dish does not appear to be on their regular menu. The tuna was fresh and the paprika emulsion added a nice kick to the dish. The crispy pork rinds were a whimsical addition and added a nice crisp texture to the dish.
This dish is on their regular menu for $35.00 and based on my dining experiences here the portion size wasn’t pared down for Dine Out. The steak was cooked a perfect medium rare. The winter squash was pickled, which helped to lighten up the dish. In addition to the sauce there was a smear of pumpkin puree which was incredibly smooth with a subtle sweetness.
The hasselback potato was crisp on the outside and deliciously soft on the inside. I wish they had bigger potatoes! This was a really great dish and I’ll definitely be back for this.
This dessert is also available on their regular menu for $11. The lemon curd wasn’t too sour and I really enjoyed the cookie crust of the tart. I didn’t really taste the spruce tip in the meringue – but it was a delicious meringue nonetheless. A delicious dessert to end an equally delicious dinner.
Overall I had a great experience at Wildebeest. I’ve enjoyed their Dine Out menu in the past, and this year did not disappoint. The value is definitely there – I left stuffed. Their dishes are executed very well and very efficiently. I was in and out in about an hour! Service did not suffer even though they were quite busy. If you haven’t made a reservation here for Dine Out, what are you waiting for?
