As restaurants are cautiously opening again in Vancouver, there are still people who don’t feel fully comfortable with dining in. That is totally ok and you can still support your favourite local business through ordering takeout. Throughout quarantine, the West End BIA has run the #WeAre Take-Out initiative to help the businesses on the West End. Support your favourite West End restaurants this Wednesday June 17th for the final round of this program. The West End is one of my favourite places to dine, so here is a round up of my personal favourites!
There are over 15 restaurants participating in this final edition of the program. From their website:
- Place a take-out order of $20 or more from any of our participating restaurants* on Wednesday, June 17th.
- Pick up your amazing meal and know you’re helping to support your community and your restaurants (pat yourself on the back)!
- Receive a $10 or $15 gift certificate for you to use at the same restaurant at a later date. ($10 for a take-out spend of $20+, $15 for a take-out spend of $30+
3 Quarters Full Cafe
3 Quarters Full is one of my favourite cafes in Vancouver. The food and vibe instantly transports me back to Taiwan. Everything at 3 Quarters Full is made freshly made in house with no additives.
My personal favourites – Deep Fried Tofu, Tofu Gua Bao, Black Sugar Loafl Fresh Mochi with Taro and Basque Cheesecake.
ChiMec Fried Chicken & Burger
ChiMec is the newest Korean Fried Chicken joint on the block. I haven’t had the opportunity to dine in yet, but I’ve taken their fried chicken to go for some late night snacking with beer and soju and it was amazing. The skin was super crispy and the chicken was so moist.
My personal favourites: Signature Chimec Burger, Original Fried Chicken and Onion Rings.
The Sauce Pasta Cafe
The Sauce Pasta Cafe is a casual pasta take out place on the West End. Their main emphasis is on quality sauce made with top notch ingredients. I love that I can customize my pasta dish the way I want it. If you’re not feeling adventurous, the cafe has plenty of preset options.
My personal favourites: Pesto Spaghetti, Vodka Cream Sauce Penne and whatever the daily special is!
These three are my top places to support, however all the restaurants on the list are fantastic. Show your local small business some love and participate in #WeAreTakeout!
