Now that the borders to Japan are opening up again, you must add Osaka to your list of must travel spots in Japan. Osaka has always been a favourite of mine – the food is delicious and the culture is so welcoming. There is a friendliness to Osaka that I don’t get from Tokyo, so I generally prefer to spend more time in Osaka whenever I am in Japan. From all my travels, the Osaka Amazing Pass is the best travel pass I have ever used. Check out my full Osaka Amazing Pass review below to see why I love it so much!

What is the Osaka Amazing Pass?

The Osaka Amazing Pass is a easy to use sightseeing and transportation pass. There are two versions:

  • 1 day pass (2,800 JPY approx 26 CAD)
  • 2 day pass (3,600 JPY approx 34 CAD)

With the pass you have unlimited access to all routes on the Osaka Metro, Osaka City Bus and New Tram. In addition, you can receive free or discounted admission to almost all of the major attractions in Osaka. There are also special deals and discounts from participating stores and restaurants. Considering that entrance fees are quite high for all the major attractions, there are a lot of savings to be had!

You can purchase the pass here. (PRO TIP: Use my code PURPLECHIVES5OFF for 5% off!).

How to use the Osaka Amazing Pass?

To use the pass on trains, you just need to let the pass go through the automatic ticket gate at the station. From that point on you can travel unlimited times for 1 day or 2 days (depending on the pass you purchased). The use starts from the first train and ends at the last train on the day of use.

At the tourist attractions you just need to present the pass to staff and they will scan it to allow you in. The free admission is limited to once per facility. You cannot visit the same spot multiple times for free admission with the pass.

Must see attractions in Osaka

I always purchase the 2 day pass and go to the following attractions:

  • Umeda Sky Building KUCHU-TEIEN OBSERVATORY
  • HEP FIVE Ferris Wheel
  • Osaka Science Museum
  • Tombori River Cruise
  • Tempozan Giant Ferris Wheel
  • Osaka Castle Museum
  • Tsutenkaku Tower

The pass covers almost every single tourist and cultural attraction in Osaka so it truly is the best bang for your buck in terms of discovering Osaka. Even if you prefer to do less tourist things, for less than $40 you can still incorporate so many cool and unique Osaka attractions without having to compromise on quality.

Check out my best hack to travel from Tokyo to Osaka for less than the cost of a JR Rail pass and in half the time! My favourite Osaka hotel for the best price and convenience is Hotel Brighton City Osaka Kitahama.
