I adore Shanghai food and I’m so lucky that Vancouver has some really great Shanghainese restaurants. My ride or die Shanghai restaurant will always be Shanghai Wonderful, but I’m always open to trying new places!
My mom got a recommendation from her friend for this restaurant so we decided to check it out last Saturday morning.
What we ate: Xiao Long Bao
These were pretty good! The skin wasn’t too thick and there was a lot of soup in these. Could have been served hotter though (but I just personally prefer really hot food!)
What we ate: Dan dan Noodles
This was really good! The one thing that Shanghai Wonderful can’t do well is this dish, so I’m always on the look out for a better alternative. There is a generous portion of noodles with a really delicious peanut sauce that isn’t too thin, but just thick enough to coat all the noodles. I love this dish, and I highly recommend it as a must order!
What we ate: Pan fried pork buns
I don’t really have much of an opinion on this dish as I don’t really like it so I didn’t try it, but my mom really liked these!
Would I come back? Maybe. My mom really likes this place so we’ve been back a few times already. I personally prefer Shanghai Elan at Crystal Mall if I were to choose my favourite in Burnaby.
