The Poke Guy – Bringing Aloha Spirit to Vancouver with their Breakfast Platters

The Poke Guy stands out from the sea of poke restaurants in Vancouver because they are the first and only poke restaurant in Canada that is partnered with Ocean Wise. Their fish comes in fresh daily and because it’s such a perishable item, once they sell out for the day, that’s it!

In true aloha spirit, they are hoping to spread more joy with their newly introduced Breakfast Platters. These epic platters feature all the Hawaiian staples for breakfast – Kalua Pork, Spam, eggs and your choice of three types of poke. To add a fun twist they’ve also included savoury potato waffles and avocado flowers! For a sweet end, they’ve added Haupia Chia Pudding and imported Hawaiian Sun drinks straight from Honolulu to pair with this delicious breakfast.

I dropped by last weekend to try out this platter and was throughly impressed by the sheer size and deliciousness of everything. Everything was prepared fresh and with care.

For my poke options I went with ahi tuna, albacore tuna and sockeye salmon. As always, the fish was very fresh and the marinades didn’t overwhelm the delicate flavour of the fish.

The Kalua pork was tender and went well with the potato waffle. The macaroni salad had copious amounts of dill which I appreciated. It really brightened up an otherwise standard macaroni salad.

The onigiri reminded me of the ones I would get in Japan for breakfast. Very homey, and a great tasting filler item. The avocado flowers were beautiful – I wish I could cut my avocados like that!

The platter is $25.00 per person with a minimum order of 2. However, this platter can definitely feed more than two people, so bring your friends and eat like family.
